Timeline: Major Cryptocurrency Theft or Lost so far

Here is a list so far over major cryptocurrency theft or went lost (as in the case of QuadrigaCx) till to-date


2014

March 2014: Mt. Gox - $450 M. Mt. Gox was a Tokyo based Bitcoin Exchange. About 850,000 Bitcoins were stolen from the Japanese Exchange.


2015

January 2015: Bitstamp - $5.1 M. About 19,000 Bitcoins were stolen. Bitstamp is based in Slovenia.


2016

June 2016: DAO Hack - $50 M. DAO - decentralized autonomous organization. A stateless digital organisation that is not based in any particular country.

August 2016: Bitfinex - $73 M. Bitfinex is a Hong Kong based cryptocurrency Exchange.


2017

July 2017: CoinDash - $7 M. CoinDash is an Israeli cryptocurrency trading startup.

July 2017: Parity - $32 M. About 153000 Ethereum were theft. Parity has offices in the UK and Germany.

November 2017: Tether - $30.9 M. Tether is a Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency startup.

December 2017: NiceHash: $70 M. NiceHash is a Slovenian Bitcoin mining platform.


2018

January 2018: Coincheck - $530 M. Coincheck is a Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange.

February 2018: BitGrail - $195 M. BitGrail is an Italian cryptocurrency exchange. Hackers took away about $195 million worth of Nano coins from the exchange.

June 2018: Bithumb - $31 M. Bithumb is a South Korea-based crxpto Exchange.

July 2018: Binance - $45 M. Originally founded in China but now the headquarter is in Japan.

September 2018: Zaif - $60 M. Zaif is a Japan-based cryptocurrency Exchange.

October 2018: MapleChange - $6 M. MapleChange is a Canadian Bitcoin Exchange.


2019

January 2019 : Cryptopia - $16 M. Cryptopia is a New Zealand based crypto Exchange.

February 2019: QuadrigaCx - $190 M. QuadrigaCx was a Canada based cryptocurrency Exchange. Founder Gerald Cotten died suddenly in India from Crohn's disease. Some more info here

This is really informative that at 2019 we have lost too much if the process will remain like this nothing will left soon. So I think imperative uk.edubirdie.com review steps must take to overcome all these issues otherwise it will be big loss.
