Sputnik V – the Russian Vaccine against Coronavirus

Post by Admin »

Russia is going to supply 25 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine to Egypt that will allow 25% of Egypt’s population access to this vaccine, according to RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund).

The Sputnik V vaccine is developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology (also known as the Gamaleya Center) and it's world’s first registered vaccine against COVID-19. Clinical trails of the vaccine already confirmed the antibodies response necessary to protect the body, virologist Feliks Ershov of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted.

In addition to this, 40,000 volunteers are currently taking part in post-registration clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine. Results of these trials will come out either this month or in November.

Russia Today (RT) reported 5,000 volunteers who already received the vaccine showed no severe side effects. That's a very good news.

As a result the russian Sputnik V vaccine already got trust from countries around the world. Not only Egypt, Nepal is also going to get 25 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine. Uzbekistan will receive up to 35 million doses, 100 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine to India, 32 million doses to Mexico, up to 50 million doses of Sputnik V to Brazil.

A Sputnik moment

The vaccine was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health on August 11 and became the first registered COVID-19 vaccine on the market. The announcement created a so-called “Sputnik moment” for the global community, like as the world was thrilled in 1957 when the first space satellite 'Sputnik' was launched into the Space by the then Soviet Union.

Now we can be confident, the pandemic will be behind us soon. Great work done by our scientists.
