Coronavirus – few points

Post by Admin »

Yesterday WHO (World Health Organization) officially declared coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, that means COVID-19 is now spreading in many countries at the same time. Coincidence or not, German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned the same day 70% of Germany's population, about 58 million people can be infected with the virus.

The numbers may neve get so high, but can infect large number of people.

Among others: the whole Italy is under lockdown till April 3.

In addtion, President Trump just announced travel bans to US from 26 European countries, the Schengen countries. Citizens from these countries can travel without border controls between them. These countries are: Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia. Travel restrictions do not apply to England and Ireland.

Those who are still taking this virus outbreak nothing but simple 'flu' should be careful. This is not any simple flu virus. WHO is warning us again and again not to take it too lightly. Once infected, the virus attacks lungs, one of the most sensitive organs in our body. Consequence Pneumonia and further fatalities.

The biggest threat with this virus is, it can live on surfaces from several hours upto 3 days. And this factor makes its faster spreading around the globe. So when you are travelling, the virus is still living on your mobile screen hours to days while infecting people around you, your colleagues, your family members. Elderly people are more vulnerable as most of them have different health issues like heart problem, high pressure, diabetes or lungs problem. And if they are/were chain smoker, it could be fatal.

So self-judgement is one of the best tools to fight the outbreak. Try to avoid mass gathering, unnecessary travels, washing hands at workplace and when returning home from outside. Use disinfectants to clean doorknobs, your mobile screen etc.

At the same time keep storing some food stuffs for at least two weeks, mainly dry foods. Also toilet papers, tooth pastes etc. You need these stuffs, in case of any sudden lockdown of your area. This will help you to avoid any embarassing situation like as it happened in Italy: people woke up in the morning just to learn that the whole country is ordered a lockdown.

In such situations at least you have something for some days. It will help you calming down. It's a good self assurance.

Stay healthy and warn others. But avoid creating and spreading panic. We have to behave with responsibility during these times.

Good and great days are ahead of us. Mercy.
